ArcGIS

The software/app that I found to create an interactive thing is called ArcGIS. This is a very cool system that allows you to create interactive maps that displays geographic information to tell stories to the viewers. I image this is similar to the eBook "England". The maps include multi-layers, information pop-ups about certain locations, and multi-scale base maps. These maps include editing, analyzing, and time.
From these maps, you can create scenes. Choosing a base map to create a background, you then proceed to add layers, which include people. imagery, places, and life. From there you configure your layers, create slides, and save your scene, so with the simple push of a button on a town or location, a scene will start telling you all about it.
You can also create apps using this software. By choosing the story you're trying to tell, you can choose what kind of app you would like to make and tailor it to your audience. If you would like to make a map-based app, you can create it with ArcGIS's map viewer, which gives you the option to either create a map from their database of from your own organization. You can also create a group- based app and share it with a specific group/organization.
